Connectives
In written work, for example evaluations and reviews for coursework, and any question in an exam where the answer is awarded more than (1 mark) you must use detail in your answers to achieve the higher marks.
For example, if you are asked to give a good feature, an answer like "colours" may not be awarded any marks. This is because the one word answer is too brief and does not say anything about the colours.
An improvement would be "a good feature is that the colours used are nice and bright", however, the answer could be improved even further by giving a reason why this is a good feature.

Different types of connectives
For example "A good feature is that the colours used are nice and bright, and this means that they stand out more and therefore appeal more to the target audience.."
The answer has been improved using connectives giving more detail to the answer. Using connectives to expand your answer is the way to get higher marks... "so that...", "because...", "this means that..." See the link above for more examples.
